Expertise and Real-World Credibility

My years in broadcast media as a cameraman and editor provides me with authentic, real-world experience. This kind of credibility is invaluable when teaching others, as students appreciate and learn from someone who has truly "been there and done that."

Broad Perspective from Global Exposure

Traveling the world and witnessing extraordinary things give me unique insights that most people don’t have. This experience allows me to enrich my training with real-life examples, cultural awareness, and a nuanced understanding of storytelling from diverse perspectives.

Comprehensive Industry Knowledge

My dual expertise in both camerawork and editing means that I can provide a holistic understanding of the production process. Such versatility is a major asset in training programmes where students often need guidance across multiple disciplines.

Empathy and Relatability

An extensive career, combined with diverse life experiences, has equipped me with both of these key qualities. They enable me to understand the challenges and perspectives of those in my care, fostering an environment where individuals feel supported, encouraged to communicate openly, and empowered to thrive in a positive learning atmosphere.
I bring over three decades of invaluable experience from the dynamic world of television news, where I refined my skills as a cameraman and editor. Combining technical precision with a profound understanding of storytelling, I am committed to delivering real-world insights and practical guidance to inspire and empower the next generation of media professionals.
My career highlights include multiple assignments to war-torn Bosnia, Nelson Mandela’s historic election victory, the Pont de l’Alma accident involving Princess Diana, the 1998 FIFA Football World Cup, among the first crews into Kosovo, post-NATO airstrikes, and the Concorde crash.
However, it's not just about the headline stories: it's equally about the everyday reports that shape our communities - whether they be local news, the arts, crime, or politics. These stories, though often less glamorous, are just as vital in reflecting the pulse of society and informing the public.

Associated Press Television: before the agency was launched, I led comprehensive training sessions for large groups of journalists and producers. These sessions focused on turning them into competent video editors, ensuring seamless structure and narrative flow - an indispensable foundation for delivering high-quality journalism.
-
L’École Supérieure de Journalisme: a an industry-professional, I was invited to mentor students - entirely in French - on the practices of television news production. This role involved equipping them with the practical skills, creative insights, and technical expertise necessary to excel in their forthcoming assignments. My mentorship aimed not only to prepare them for the demands of the industry, but also to inspire confidence and foster their individual talents.

The Windsor Forest Colleges Group: I remain an active member of the Media Industry Professionals Review Panel, where I collaborate closely with students to help refine and elevate their skills, providing constructive feedback on various aspects of their coursework: camera operation, lighting techniques, editing structure and narrative flow, storytelling capabilities, and ensuring the proper care and handling of equipment.
The students often take the opportunity to engage me in impromptu Q&A sessions, eager to delve deeper into the nuances of my professional journey. They are equally keen to gather advice on what they might expect in their own future endeavours, making these moments both enriching and rewarding for all involved.
